Machu Picchu is Peru's most popular attraction. Most foreign travelers fly to Lima, stay there one night or so and head down to the south of Peru - mostly to Cusco to see the Sacred Valley, and then do the Inca Trail and end it up in one of the world's most magical and mysterious places - Machu Picchu. However, don't underestimate Peru's capital city and dedicate it a bit of your precious time. It might seem disorganized, dirty, chaotic and tricky, but it's not just that. If you move away a bit from the city centre, you will find a peaceful place with a gentle sound of waves crushing over the little coastal pebbles. When walking the streets, you will feel like being in Cuba, but it'll be Callao - Lima's hidden retreat. Have I already convinced you to make the most from your visit in Lima or you need some visual proof? I suppose it's the latter, so here you have 25 photos that will definitely convince you to spend an afternoon in Callao :)))
Nice viewpoint where you can either eat a breakfast or an afternoon snack overlooking the sea and the mountains on the other side :)
Very picturesque coast with rich water fowl
There is a nice path along the coast which offers views of the city far far away. It's well-organized and well-preserved.
Nice pebbly beach, a perfect place for meditation and a peaceful contemplation... No other words needed in this case :)
And last but not least - those tremendous colonial houses that makes you feel as if you are strolling down the streets of Havana in Cuba - so colourful, nicely designed and clean.
HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF CALLAO? WOULD YOU VISIT THIS PLACE OR MAYBE YOU ALREADY DID SO?
